Riverside County is located in the southeastern part of California, stretching from Orange County and extending up to the Colorado River. The County was named after the City of Riverside which in turn got its name from the Santa Ana River that flows through it. Riverside County was officially formed on May 9, 1893 from parts of San Bernardino and San Diego Counties. Riverside City is the county seat. Neighboring communities of Riverside County include Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties.
